Tour Routes: Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Wangdue and Phobjikha Valley.
(Please note that this is just a sketch itinerary)

Day 1: Paro – Thimphu (1hr drive, 65km/44miles)

Most of the time flight to Paro International airport includes flight from Singapore, Thailand, New Delhi (or) Kathmandu, You will be needing the visa copy at the time of the boarding. So we request you to please have printed copy of the actual visa that will be send to you in advance by local tour operators like ourselves. Once you have completed all the immigration and check post formalities meet your guide and driver at the airport. Visit the Ta-dzong (or) the National museum in Paro, which offers a dramatic view of origins of Buddhism into Bhutan, the gallery of the color-full masks made from clay, wood and saw-dust. It always displays a brief introduction of the Himalayan flora and fauna; and some of the scroll paintings and artefacts dating back to the 8th century can be seen at the museum. En route, a short breather 20mins walk with clean air turquoise river down to the 15th century ‘Iron bridge’, uphill the hill is Ta-chog lhakang. The three storied lhakang is privately owned by the descendants of the founder of the temple, Drubthob Thangtong Gyelpo, a architect, philosopher and an renowned Buddhist masters of our time. Continue drive to the Thimphu, the capital city is one of the two capitals in the world that function without any traffic signals on road. Check in the hotel and relax for about 20mins before we visit Tashichhoe dzong, the summer capital of central monastic body and that is the home to the ‘golden throne’ of the Wangchuck dynasty.

Overnight at Thimphu, Khang residency, Dorji elements (or) similar

Day 2: Thimphu (full day sightseeing in Thimphu)
Pay your visit to the pious land mark in Thimphu, the Memerial Stupa, 14th century Changangkha Lhakang and Zilukha Nunnery. After lunch go and visit the biggest statue of Buddha Doderma(55m tall) with the magnificient view of entire valley. Later visit Hand-made paper factory.
Overnight at Peaceful, Hotel Jumolhari or similar.

Day 3: Thimphu – Punakha / Wangdue (3hrs)
After driving not very far from Thimphu experience the possibility of the drastic change in climatic conditions and vegetations. En-route stop over Dochu La (3140m), although very chilly, it does not prevent it from becoming the most scenic pass in the country. Continue descending further down towards warm Punakha valley. After lunch, explore the massive “Palace of Great Happiness”

Day 4: Punakha – Phobjika Valley(elev.2900m)(2-3hrs) Visit the 15thcentury “Gantey Goenpa”, or Gantey Monastery is the only Nyingmapa buddhist monastery in Western Bhutan. Enjoy the most sophisticated work of art and designs surrounding the monastery which was recently been renovated after being hit with a massive earthquake.

Day 5: Phojikha – Dhochula Resort (4hrs). Visit the Crane information center. Retrace your way back to Dochu La. Early to bed, early to rise to witness the beautiful sunrise.

Day 6: Dochula – Paro(2hrs) Take a visit to Dochu La Temple opposite to the 108 stupas and continue driving futher to Paro. After lunch visit the impressive Ringpung Dzong, beleived to be built on a hill that looks like a Heap of Jewels. Check in the hotel and relish.

Day 7: Paro – Haa (2-3hrs)
Enjoy picnic lunch while making a day excursion to Haa valley (2670m) via Cheli La (3810m), often claimed as the highest motorable road in the Country. On a clear day from the pass there are views of Mt. Jumolhari on one side and Haa valley on the other. After visiting Lhakang Karpo, and Lhakang Nagp, check in.

Overnight at hotel Ri-Sum

Day 8: Haa – Paro via Chuenzom (3-4hrs) Morning visit the dzong and take a D-tour via Chuenzom to Paro. Visit Tshenden Incense factory at Bondey. If you may you can hike to Taktshang later afternoon.
Overnight at Tashi Namgay, Tenziling

Day 9: Depart. After breakfast, drive to the airport.
